I normally run my laptop on AC power.  I also have it plugged into a UPS.  Today the power went
out.  The power applet on the mate desktop reported I had 7298 hours of laptop run time and 5

misconfigured?

UPS software is normally configured to send a "shutdown"  message to attached systems when
remaining runtime is low/  The management software requires a data connection (serial cable,
USB, or network), shutdown messages are sent to other systems using the network, so you
need a UPS for network switches.

5 minutes of UPS runtime could be a worn-out battery, and would probably trigger a shutdown
command on the laptop if you did not explicitly configure it to ignore a shutdown command from
the UPS management software.
