The cockpit-ws package installs /etc/issue.d/cockpit with
the "Activate the web console ..." content.
 
Ok, I removed that symbolic link to the cockpit motd but I still see the message even after restarting the ssh service...

I also found the cockpit message in /etc/motd.d/cockpit

removed it from there and the problem cleared.
