Suddenly when I launched TB the little wheel kept spinning and still does. I can't send or receive email. Nothing has changed in my account settings nor was there an update of TB. Source File: resource://gre-resources/ua.css Line: 175, Column: 19 Source Code: grid-auto-columns: inherit; I don't know if this explains the locking up. I tried to remove and reinstall TB, but the problem remains. I asked this question at the Mozilla support forum, but this does not seem to be a useful forum. I don't know how to solve this problem. I don't use TB, but firefox locks up for me frequently for the last several months. Does the lock unfreeze itself? In my case, it appears so after a while (say, half a minute) but I have also found that using the keyboard (so I just use the arrow-down keys to activate the keyboard now when it freezes) then unlocks it immediately. (It appears to me to a problem with the scroll button on the mouse which sometimes freezes with frequent scrolling.) I have not been able to track its source and happening reliably hence have not submitted a bug report. Though the bug report may well have to do with the kernel.
This never happened before Fedora 23 but there are so many variables that change with any upgrade that it is not clear to me what to blame it on.
Again, your problem may we different but I appear to have a similar issue. Sorry that my answer may not be of much help.

It could be that an extension became outdated with the last TB update. And only when there was an auto extension update check did things go wrong. I have had this happen. It got so bad with broken extensions that I could not remove that I finally (yesterday) recreated my whole TB setup, then moved my folders, filters, and stuff like that over to the new setup.

You rename your Thunderbird directory. I think the default is somewhere around ~/.mozilla
Start TB and it will create a whole new directory structure. Configure your account and soforth. then shutdown TB, copy over your mail directories, filters, address book, sigs and restart. There will be a little more config fixing, and you have a 'clean' setup with just your data.

I am not having any problems but I can say I don't think the message in the error console is to blame since it also appears in my T-Bird's error console as well.
It may be an extension as Robert has suggested. Since you can access the error console it seems T-Bird isn't totally locked up. So, maybe you can try disabling whatever extensions you have installed.

I looked at that, but I have no extensions installed. Tools-->add-ons-->add-on manager-->extensions shows an empty window. The subdirectory "extensions" in my .thunderbird folder is empty.

If you did not accidentally truncate teh troubleshooting info you are missing libraries, how did you update to 45.1 .0?

I don't know if this explains the locking up. I tried to remove and reinstall TB, but the problem remains. I asked this question at the Mozilla support forum, but this does not seem to be a useful forum.
I don't know how to solve this problem. Does anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance,

Does your distro have FossaMail in its repo? It's a fork of Thunderbird, looks and works like T/B, but is not monkeyed with every few weeks like T/B. I've been using it on pclos for a couple of months now, since I got tired of the monkeyshines in T/B.
