Hi Ya'll,
I am just wondering did anyone get a bunch of 404 errors when trying to run today's updates? I did.
Total download size: 110 M Is this ok [y/N]: y Downloading Packages: [MIRROR] gnome-shell-3.34.4-2.fc31_3.34.5-1.fc31.x86_64.drpm: Status code: 404 for http://mirrors.syringanetworks.net/fedora/linux/updates/31/Everything/x86_64... And what do I do to get those items that failed to update, to update? This is just a partial list of the things that failed to update.

Wait a few hours and try again. _______________________________________________
Will it repopulate those items that failed to download or have I lost the chance to update those items for good?

Those packages still need to be updated, so they will be tried again. The mirror you're trying to use just hasn't been fully synced to the new updates yet.

Why in the world would you think that was going to happen, just because things got a bit out of sync? Stop being a Chicken Little!

It's called this is the first time this has happened to me since I started using linux a year ago. And this is the first time this has happened to me since switching to Fedora about a month ago.

And that means that the issue's never going to be corrected?

That's a kind of rude and completely unnecessary. It's an understandable question even if it sounds a little silly to a long-time user. This is the users list where we want to welcome new users, not scare them away.

Would you have preferred me to tell you to be a hoopy frood and DON'T PANIC?
And, just for the record, I wasn't reacting to your question but to your Chicken Little response, thinking that just because part of your update had failed One Time, you'd never ever be able to update those packages. Things like this happen from time to time, and there's no reason to be concerned unless it doesn't clear up within a day or so.

The last sentence of this reply would have been sufficient on its own. The remainder is unnecessary and un-Friend-ly.
Let's focus future replies on helping our community members learn in constructive ways.
Interesting... Fedora has yet bring up those updates that were missed yesterday. I waited the rest of yesterday until 11:45 AM CDT today and I ran sudo dnf update and this is what I got:
[chris@localhost ~]$ sudo dnf update
[sudo] password for chris:
Last metadata expiration check: 0:01:02 ago on Fri 03 Apr 2020 11:43:02 AM CDT.
Dependencies resolved.
Nothing to do. Complete!
[chris@localhost ~]$

If you didn't get an error message from dnf, then all the updates were done the first time. If it gets a 404 from one mirror, it will try other ones. Also, those were delta rpm files in your list, so if it can't download those, it will just go get the whole file instead.
