Hi,
I downloaded the iso of dvd fedora 12.
I burned the downloaded file to a dvd.
Now the problem is that nothing happens when i restart the computer. My settings are correct (i can boot from win XP cd for example).
When i burned fedora the name was changed. Can this be the error?
The file name in my dvd now is "Fedora-12-i386-DVD_4 (0).iso" instead of the original "Fedora-12-i386-DVD_4.iso".
Any suggetions?
Thanks
You have to burn the DVD as an .iso image. If you burn it as a regular file it won't boot/run. If you're using Brasero it's the bottom button (burn image).

I prefer the KISS method: right click on the file in Nautilus and select Write to Disc. Works a charm and gets it Right every time.

First of all, you should know that Fedora 12 is nearly at the end of its supported life (only a few days are left) so you may want to consider going straight to F14. See http://fedoraproject.org for multiple download options.
As for burning the ISO disk, this should help:

Only hours, actually. EOL is tomorrow (12/2).
Hi,
I burned the dvd as image with nero.
Now the boot from dvd is possibile but I have an error message at the beginning of the installation. I am wondering if this has something to do with the end of life of F12 that you are mentionning or it is just the support that won't be possible.
In my case i have to use it because the software (network simulator) that i want to use runs on F12 only.
He re is the error message:
/sbin/load_policy: error while loading shared libraries: /lib/libselinux.so.1: cannot read file data: Input/output error.
Thank you

You are confusing Fedora, and Linux, with some other non-free operating system where such obnoxious behavior is a plausible possibility.
Presuming that all your hardware bits (that includes the burned disk) are in working order, you will be able to install F12 on suitable hardware up until the very moment our sun explodes and wipes all life, approximately four billion years from now.
or it is just the support that won't be possible.
That one.

Your burned disk is a coaster. Try again.

OP, try at half the maximum speed of the burner; e.g. 8X instead of 16X.
