I'm tasked with finding a drawing tablet. From what I found, Wacom tablets seem to have best support, but all references I found were for the gnome-control-center's wacom settings.
What about XFCE. Are there any Wacom tablet models that do not require configuring under Gnome, and will work on a stock XFCE desktop.

Hello Mr. Sam,
Is there an option for Wacom in the dropdown at Applications -> Settings -> Mouse and Touchpad? I don't have a Wacom so that option doesn't show up for me but in your case it may open up more settings like screen mapping, etc.
Good luck :m

Well, when I'll buy and plug one in, I guess I'll find out.
But, as I wrote, I'm doing some research into what's out there.

Quite some time ago I'd played with a couple of old Wacom USB drawing tablets. They all worked without any drivers, like a mouse or trackpad.
If you wanted fuller features, like the extra buttons, either you needed a driver, or a program that knew about using them. At one stage I got GIMP to use the thing properly, but so long ago that I've forgotten how. During a recent attempt, I couldn't work it out again.
I gave away the tablet (I have no drawing skills, a child with crayons is about my level), so I can't do any more tests.
