Hi
Has anyone had this problem?
After I unolock the screen, firefox seem slow to recognize mouse or keyboard input. There is a period of about three minutes where no matter what I do it will not register with firefox (switch tabs, try to click on link, etc.).
I can switch and move windows, and terminal and other programs recognize the input without problems.
I am using Fedora 24, XFCE ( but I think something similar happened also with KDE. Linux 4.7.4-200 Firefox 48.01
How can I start troubleshooting this?

I haven't, but I don't lock my screen.

You could search for the problem or open a bug at
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi#h=bugForm%7CFirefox
When I searched on "slow response", and sorted by id, latest at top, there were several bugs that looked like possibilities, though none mentioned unlock that I saw.
The other thing is that firefox 49 should be available soon in the Fedora repositories, if not already, and it might fix your problem.
Thanks. I will check

I have seen this on several different systems (Linux Mint 18, macOS El Capitan) so it seems to be a firefox 49 "feature". My guess is that firefox or some add-on is waiting on the network. More and more sites are using https which I find often makes site less responsive.
Have you tried "restart with add-ons disabled"?

Not Yet.
I just updated firefox to 49 and i am testing around. I think my firefox "smelled" my complaint and is behaving decently for the moment, I haven't have the problem yet again even before I upgraded to 49. I'll keep monitoring it.

Try running top in a terminal and see what state the firefox process is in. It might be partly swapped out, in which case it will spend a lot of time in the D state. Sorting by memory usage might help as it won't be using much CPU time if that is the case.
