Intel HD Audio, sound too quiet

Hello,

I have following audio device in my notebook :

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)

I am user of Fedora 10 x86_64 , with latest updates as well.

My current experience is, that when audio volume on maximum (in Volume
Control , Master, PCM and Front) sound is much more quiet than in
Windows Vista on same notebook.

Where should I look for solution?

Is there a preferred applications tool to allow someone to specify the volume control
program?

The gnome thingo is just a GUI, it'll control the same thing as one of
the other mixers does.  It used to be the same as the alsa mixer, but I
see since Fedora 9 the alsamixer's giving a curses interface to the
pulseaudio controls.

You can test for yourself if you adjust some levels with one, you'll see
which of the other shows the same changes.

Pulseaudio is controlling software, other things control the actual
sound hardware.  Both need to have levels up for sound to work, and
either one can reduce levels.  If you have no sound, check that both
hardware and software volume controls are 50-75% up, then just use one
to control your levels.

Oh, and...  You can find which controls the hardware by the controls it
offers.  A hardware controller will offer volume controls for the
individual hardware (mic, CD, modem, etc.), all of the time.  Software
controllers, like Pulseaudio, only show controls for applications that
are currently producing sound.

Same problem here. No solution. Suggest you try the ALSA website / list.

Please post if you find a fix.
