I am running RH9 at the moment, do the ATI rpms work ok woth FC-1?

Trying to be a RHCE... http://www.magicfx.co.uk http://www.suretecsystems.com
Just wondering, what is better in those drivers?
When I choose the ATi9200 drivers with FC1 and add the option AGPMode 4 in the config, what more do the binary drivers give me from ATI? Isn't it a fact that after installing these drivers I can no longer update XFree86 if there are new releases without uninstalling this driver first?

You mean the binary drivers from ATI? If so: yes it works just fine in FC1.

At least for me (Radeon 9100) the binary drivers make FlightGear and some other 3D games playable - there's a difference of night and day in performance. Native XFree86 driver gives me like 2.5fps on FlightGear, with the binary driver it's > 25 (don't remember exactly).
Really I hate to use any binary drivers but it's almost worth the pain here...

Um, no, you can update XFree86 with the drivers installed but some amount of additional twiddling is necessary if updating XFree86 or kernel.

At least ATI supports your card in Linux. Come on ATI! Support the Radeon M6 LY already... (Start Sarcastic Remark) Who else has ATI Mobility issues and would like to take a rusty pipe to whomever is in charge of what cards are supported in Linux at friggen ATI? I don't call the exchange of a Free Operating System with an untainted Linux for pretty graphics and a tainted system dependent of ATI support.
Come on ATI, release some specifications more, already!

I know what you mean. This is a major issue indeed. I am sure they read this list too. I do not know why they would not monitor this list. I think that ATI alsa monitors this list also. If you really want to get their attention post it on Linux-laptop Mailing list. - -- Jonathan C. I seriously doubt those who can make the political decision even care :)
It was intended as little more than a *sigh*
