Dear All Fedora Linux Experts,
Sinc yesterday one of my proxy servers is not booting up after a system retsart, and it throws an error message "Error 15: File Not Found Press any key to continue"
I had tried with rescue CD, still it could not be resolved though the system could be mounted but nothing proceeded beyond this.
Give some pointers to solve this problem.
Thanks, jmaan

That error means that the GRUB boot loader can't find the kernel file at the location shown in its configuration file. Either the declaration for the root disk partition, or the kernel file name, is wrong in /boot/grub/grub.conf on your system, or somehow the kernel file it points to has been removed or renamed.
If you booth with a rescue disk and mount the system, you can make sure /mnt/sysimage/boot is mounted, then "chroot /mnt/sysimage", and check and edit the contents of /boot/grub/grub.conf as needed for your configuration.

But why doesn't it SAY what file it cannot find? After all, it must know what it is looking for.

Try booting the previous kernel from the menu. If that works then re-install the kernel package but it would be good to find out why the boot loader couldn't find the kernel. Power loss while updating it ?
If not boot off the CD, mount the root file system off the rescue cd, chroot into that, mount /boot and re-install the current kernel package
I have tried booting from all the kernel as shown in the menu, but it odes not boot. Please write in step-wise the things as you had suggested,as I am a new bie.

Personally, I would get Knoppix. This is Linux on a CD. You can look at your current partitions, and see if the kernel(s) in /boot actually match those specified in /boot/grub/grub.conf (which should be linked to /etc/grub.conf).
Alternatively, you can run grub interactively by pressing "E" when the kernel list appears. Personally, I find this quite complicated, but it allows you to find what kernels are available, and to try them.
