I am experincing erratic mouse behavior after upgrading the kernel from 2.6.5-1.358 to 2.6.6-1.435.
It shows alot of errors from the gpmd (console mouse) and in 'X' the mouse is unusable and if you move it at all the cursor jumps all over the screen and many windows start opening.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem.

Envelope please: KVM, psmouse.proto=imps
I am guessing you are running with a KVM switch, possibly a Belkin 4 port KVM. (You really should turn off the web cam.... :) )
Several of us have had similar problems. One fix that seems to work for most people is to add psmouse.proto=imps as a kernel parameter.
Go to /boot/grub/grub.conf and add that to the end of the kernel line.
Reboot and it should be resolved.

That worked .. but I am not running a kvm on this box just a logitech trackman marble
Thanks
I hope you don't mind but I posted your reply to me on the mailing list so the information can be captured and hopefully used by others.
Glad that worked. It is interesting that you had this problem without using a kvm. I believe up to now all the reports of this type of problem involved a kvm switch.
There was another patch posted in the last week for these types of problems. A test patch for the mouse code in the kernel. If you have any other problems you may want to try that.
Also it would be good to know what type of motherboard you are using.

One quick question for Rob: How long has it been since you changed the batteries in your trackman? I have seen eratic behavior like this with this and other wireless pointing devices without a KVM when the batteries are low.
Another possibility, though it may not apply to your situation, is multiple wireless keyboard/mouse trancievers in close proximity.

This addition to the kernel line helped me out. Thank you.
Setup: 5 computers connected to Belkin Omni View PRO 8-port Belkin KVM Console F1DC100P 3 of the machines are brand new, identical hardware. 1 has Win2K Adv. Server installed 1 has FC1 installed 1 has FC2 installed
Computer with FC2 lost sync with the touchpad/mouse when I switched away and back to it. Adding that kernel parameter kept the touchpad in sync.
Many Thanks.
