Hi, i use Redhat 9, and im a linux newbbie, i downloaded Fedora Core 3 cds and i burn it, but when i tried to install the next error appears...
crc error VFS: cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-block(8,3) Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic:VFS:Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,3)
The cd is ok, but happens in 2 pcs.. i burned just de boot.iso, and the same problem...
My computer is a Amd Athlon XP 2600 MSI Motherboard 512 ram 2 hard drives 1 cd reader , 1 cd writer.
I was googling but i didnt find solution, anyone can help me ?

From what do you conclude that the CD is proper burned? Did you do an md5sum check with the ISO images and after burning the mediacheck successfully? If CD1 is really ok, then maybe install starting with "linux ide=nodma" helps.

I am having a similar problem with the installation of FC3. I have tried quite a few things to solve the problem but no luck. I thought I was having a HD problem but I was able to install FC2 without the error. I have done a lot of searches but I have not found any definitive answers. Most of the answers involve recompiling the kernel and setting parameters but that does not apply to one who is installing from the installation CDs. Any help would be much appreciated,
