Dear All,
Since a few weeks ago, when I boot my Fedora 34 machine, I get a three animated square dots as a boot screen like the following:
https://i.stack.imgur.com/7hFp0.png
Moreover, the booting duration seems to be longer than before.
Any reason for that?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Might be worth looking through the archives for a recent similar case:

See if the solutions there help?

This is what worked for me (from the same thread):

Thanks, Patrick. Let us see if meanwhile the bug that Ben Cotton mentions is fixed.

You can check what's causing the delay with: systemd-analyze blame
I'm guessing it's probably going to show dracut-initqueue.service at the top, which is probably this bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1985205

Thanks, Ben. It seems you are right:

I found this related ticket:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1976653
I followed the clue about resume= on the kernel command line.
When I removed resume= the problem was fixed for the F34 that had the 90 second pause.

There's a fix in the updates-testing repo: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-7b6767f8af
It should land in the stable repo tonight.

Unfortunately, that does not fix the problem, in my case:
--------------------------------------- $ systemd-analyze blame 1min 31.106s dracut-initqueue.service 6.914s NetworkManager-wait-online.service 3.535s akmods.service 3.283s firewalld.service ---------------------------------------

It was needed to regenerate the initrd with "sudo dracut -f":
