Where did you get the PHP 5.2.4 update? In [updates-testing]? I cannot find it in any of the repositories and not in the Fedora Updates System either. Which repos do you use? The 5.2.4-1.fc7 build of PHP in koji (= the Fedora 7 Build System) contains also a newer php-gd package which requires php-common = 5.2.4-1.fc7 whereas in your update attempt yum complains about the old php-gd package from stock Fedora 7.
Anyway, such a problem has not been found by the broken deps checker either, which is run regularly for Fedora 7, too, and reports problems to the package maintainers. Hence I believe there has never been an official Fedora 7 Update for the prepared PHP 5.2.4 build yet.
http://bugzilla.redhat.com -- Product "Fedora", Component "php" -- would be the place where to report bugs with the packages.

I've mailed rel-eng about it, since there are a few mysteries to solve in this matter with regard to what the Fedora Updates System displays about php-5.2.4-1.fc7.
I also have php-5.2.4-1.fc7 and others. They were noticed by 'fedora package updater'.
But now there are no php-5.2.4-1.fc7 and others on f7 update repos.
One more strange thing is 'wrong apache version shown on phpinfo()', If you check apache version by 'httpd -v' and look at phpinfo(): SERVER_SOFTWARE Apache/2.2.0 (Fedora)
I have php-gd-5.2.4-1.fc7 shown below:
[root@m5n yum.repos.d]# rpm -qa|grep -e '-5.2.4-' php-mbstring-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-mhash-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-mcrypt-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-ncurses-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-devel-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-pdo-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-pgsql-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-soap-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-bcmath-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-dba-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-mysql-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-gd-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-tidy-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-snmp-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-cli-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-odbc-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-imap-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-common-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-xml-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-xmlrpc-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-ldap-5.2.4-1.fc7 php-mssql-5.2.4-1.fc7

I have also this problem. http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Fedora/2007-09/msg03557.html
Probably is a mirror sync problem. The last Fedora php package is 5.2.4-1.fc7,
http://lwn.net/Articles/250513/
but on many mirror (download.fedora.redhat.com for example :-| )this package not there is.

Okay i ended up in google search but all mirrors showed up with the 5.2.4-1 packages are all 404. So i did take a look on rawhide and there where 5.2.4-2 packages. I did --enablerepo=development and i got finaly php-gd
Installing: php-gd i386 5.2.4-2 development 111 k Updating: gd i386 2.0.35-1.fc8 development 158 k Updating for dependencies: glibc i686 2.6.90-15 development 5.4 M glibc-common i386 2.6.90-15 development 18 M glibc-devel i386 2.6.90-15 development 2.0 M glibc-headers i386 2.6.90-15 development 605 k php i386 5.2.4-2 development 1.3 M php-cli i386 5.2.4-2 development 2.5 M php-common i386 5.2.4-2 development 220 k php-mbstring i386 5.2.4-2 development 1.1 M php-mysql i386 5.2.4-2 development 80 k php-pdo i386 5.2.4-2 development 59 k

True. It was a security (!) update for F7:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-package-announce/2007-September/msg00...
Meanwhile I've heard back from the Updates System Maintainer. php-5.2.4-1.fc7 was "unpushed" (that is a notion specific to the Fedora Updates System "bodhi") by the package maintainer according to the logs. It's unbelievable that something like that is possible for a stable dist, as users have fetched and installed the updates already. It has never been possible according to release policies to withdraw a released update from the repositories or to downgrade to an older version-release. It will be continued to look into this matter.

It was done at least once (in pre-F7 times, maybe FC6, FC5 or so) for a broken kernel upgrade. The maintainer decided that it's better to withdraw the broken update to minimize damage until it's fixed. It may well be that this is what happened here too.
I have reopened the update request and added the Security keyword.

Brown paper-bag situations ask for announcements of some sort. Especially when it's a serious [dangerous] bug in a kernel which may have been installed by our precious users already. It would be a really bad joke to pull such an update _silently_ without informing the package users.

Luke Macken has pushed back php-5.2.4-1.fc7 into updates.
