Because of the lack of compatibility between the distributions, I perfer to ask how should I install giac (http://www-fourier.ujf-grenoble.fr/~parisse/install_fr#xcasrpm) possibility the last version on my fedora 18.

Do you really need giac/xcas? The fedora 18 repositories contain: maxima, octave, gap, etc.
There should be a substantial overlap en 'yum intall' is a lot easier than trying to get not directly supported applications (especially if they need older libraries) to work in Fed18.
