Bonjour,
I have just upgraded to f30 from f29.
As I wanted to use firefox, I had a warning: "create a new profile".....
Why I can't use my previous profile?
I tried to create a new profile and: all my bookmarks, all my addons all my previous config have disappeared.
How can I recover? How can use my old config, bookmarks etc.
Thank you.

Your profiles are located at ~/.mozilla/firefox as a directory. The default profile would be named something like 56npld66.default and the profiles.ini should hold the needed information to start FF using that information.
For example my profile.ini contains
[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=56npld66.default Default=1
[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2
[Install11457493C5A56847] Default=56npld66.default
And, you can always start FF with a profile like this....
firefox --profile ~/.mozilla/firefox/whatever_directory

Thank you for your answer. I tried to modify the files profiles.ini and installs.ini to have my "old" profile but this did not work: when I call firefox I have a warning pretending that I am using a too old version of firefox (??? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) which could destroy my configs and bookmarks....
Then I have no other choice: or I create a new profile, or I quit....
So, I downgraded from version 68 (from my new f30 install), to the previous one (66). and firefox works like this. Doing updates, I will exclude firefox untill this strange behaviour disappears.
Who can understand?
Thank you.

Ed's suggestion will work, but you can also use firefox --new-instance --ProfileManager to bring up a dialog in order to select the profile you want to use. This enables having different profiles for different uses. A little extra security if you want to use it.

No, I don't want to use it, I just want to use one profile and not to have to reconfigure everything because a new version of firefox has come.... It seems to be the case for version 68, because when downgrading to version 66 I could have firefox working normaly without any pain....
just an idea: copy your full folder ./mozilla somewhere (on a USB stick) then upgrade Firefox, don't start Firefox, then copy from the USB stick to your system and restart Firefox Let me know Antonio Montagnani

If you use the manager, you can select the profile you want. I think the one you want is the "default" profile. You can delete all the other profiles, and then firefox should start using the only profile left. I haven't done that, so that is just my supposition. Be sure that you know the profile you want before you start deleting anything.
