What is unetbootin-linux-583 ? I installed unetbootin from the F17 repositories and that file doesn't exist. And "whatprovides" returns nothing.

I did not even look in the f17 repo for this. Shame on me. I will install it and try the 'proper' unetbootin. I want to build a USB install for f17 netinstall.

Great. Got it installed, selected the iso I downloaded and tried to install to my usb drive. But a 'small' problem.
unetbootin wants my usb drive to be /dev/sdb1, and my system is installing it as /dev/sdb
Now to figure out how to fix this...

So, I thought that if I had another USB drive in another port first, then the drive I want to install on, everything would be cool.
For some reason that other drive comes in as /dev/sdb1 and the one I want always comes in as /dev.sbd
Now what?

what about partitioning it?

Well it was partitioned. But as FAT32. So I tried to partitioned it with the Disk utility in f17/Gnome and Partition is not listed, but format was. So I formated it as ext4 and it still showed as /dev/sdb. I restarted unetbootin, and it was seeing /dev/sdb as a place to install the boot image. Great. So now I have the bootable USB device, and tomorrow I will try it out on a 'new' Eee900 I got via eBay.
Thanks for the help.

There are two libpng12.so files that can be installed. unetbootin needs the onne from the 32 bit distribution not the 64 bit distribution.

unetbootin is booted from a a machine that is not running (like os Fedora installation Disk). It does not depend on libraries installed on the system

Install this from the Fedora repos. and then run it and build a USB boot drive. Worked fine. Or so it seems, my Eee900 though is not booting from the drive, but that could be a problem I am having on this system. See my posts about problems writing to USB drives.
