This has been a problem that has been annoying me for some time with ny FC2 install.
I have selected U.S. English as my keyboard type, but every time I reboot I need to re-select the keyboard type (which appears as U.S. English). If I don't , my apostrophes and quotes don't work properly (have to double key).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul Bryce

Hi There,
The behaviour you're describing (problems with apostrophes and quotes) is the one you get when you have: US English w/deadkeys. This is my primary layout. Are you sure you're not selecting "US English w/deadkeys" instead of "US English"?

Jorge, thanks for the help. I've checked my config in a few places and everything seems to be sert to en_us. I've also inserted Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys" into the xorg.conf.i14888 (and xorg.conf) file to no avail.
Thanks,
Paul
