Hi All,
I have just used my Fedora 5 64-bit for the first time in perhaps a couple of weeks, and it now is running much slower! It's like the CPU is running at 240Mhz, instead 2400Mhz! Doesn't anyone of any idea what maybe going on? Are there any system setting that would slow the computer down? I haven't changed anything since I have used it last...
AMD Athlon64 3800+ 2GB RAM ASUS AV8 Motherboard
Thanks, John

cpuspeed, perhaps? If your processor is capable of frequency scaling, cpuspeed will adjust the speed based on load.
cat /proc/cpuinfo, note the speeds, then do "service cpuspeed stop" and see if the speeds change.

Jason,
Thanks for the advice, but when I logged on to try it, it was running at normal speeds once again! I don't why it was so slow... I tried many times to re-boot, and it always ran much slower! After a goodnight's rest, it is back to normal speed! Very strange!
Thanks, John

Jason,
I spoke too soon! It is slow once again. I wish I knew what was causing it! Everything is once again taking longer (bootup, opening windows (terminal, for instance)... I typed cat /proc/cpuinfo and get 2403Mhz for CPU speed, which is normal, but it is still slow...
