Where is the best place to find out about updates for Fedora 7 that specifically address security issues?
"Software Updater" lists all updated software packages but doesn't indicate which of them fix security issues and which are for other things.
Thanks...

Join the announce list. You'll get an e-mail about each update, usually with descriptions, though some lazy people give no information about what the update updates.
Fedora-package-announce mailing list Fedora-package-announce@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-package-announce

Good evening, Tim.
Thanks, I have done that, and in the last few hours I have gotten a few dozen update notices.
Of all of the update notices I've received since mid afternoon that concerned F7, not a'one (not a single one) shows up in Software Updater as being an updated version of an installed package.
In some cases, that is because I don' t have the package installed.
In one case, the "updated" version was older than the version I have installed (how does that happen?). The version I have installed is the version that resulted from the initial installation plus the first "update all" from several days ago.
In the rest of the cases .. about half of the packages that remained ... every one is newer than the version I have installed, yet didn't show up in Software Updater.
I don't mind just saying "yum update XXX" for every one, if that's what I need to do, but how come they don't show up in the updater?

You get notified when updates are made, it's some time later before mirrors have the files available. There's definitely advantages in having advance notice. Just wait a while, and they'll come through.

Yes, you'll get notices about all updates that are made, it doesn't keep a database of what you have, and tailor the messages to suit. The old Red Hat Network system worked that way (you registered what you had on their system, and could remotely push updates your way or ignore them; not much point for single users, but useful for networks).

No idea about that one, other than guessing that an update may get released without a notice, or before one.

Good morning, Tim.
Right, but I point was, if I don't have it installed, then it probably doesn't show up in my session of Software Updater as having an update available, right?

Yes. That program only shows you the updates that'll be an *update* for your system.

Right.
