Hi all,
I get the following message every time I run yum [search|update|info]:
"pkgtags.sqlite.gz does not match checksum"
It is a problem of update repository and any cleaning doesn't help. I compared the checksum of my local file and checksum of the same file downloaded from several mirrors and I got the same values. I am not an yum expert, so I can't say what's wrong.
Regards
Vaclav M.

name does "checksum" file show for file "pkgtags.sqlite.*"?
what name is shown for "pkgtags.sqlite.*" file when opened with 'archiver'?

It a compressed SQLite database and the name of the file in archive is "pkgtags.sqlite".

If I delete the content of "/var/cache/yum/*" and update the system, I get the following error:
"Caching enabled but no local cache of /var/cache/yum/i386/12/updates/pkgtags.sqlite.gz from updates"
It looks like this file is not created during the update.
If I copy the file pkgtags.sqlite.gz there from the server, I get again the old message that the checksum is wrong.

from this, i can only conclude that you had/have a problem somewhere.
so, i suggest try pulling files from above mirror links to see what you get.
if you match what i got, you had problems with files you pulled.
if you do not match what i got, you have problems with your 'sha1sum' file.
hth.
now, i am going to get my 'beauty rest'. :)
later.

I can't sleep ....
I use for example the following repositories: http://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/fedora/updates/12/i386/repodata/ http://fedora.mirror.iweb.ca/updates/12/i386/repodata/
BTW, your repository: http://mirrors.vexs.net/pub/fedora/linux/updates/12/i386/repodata/
is out of date, so the checksums are completely different, look at the timestamp "2010-Oct-08 21:06:41", since that time there was a lot of critical updates, including an update of yum.
The checksums of the archive and of the file in are correct in my case as well, despite this fact the yum complains. If I delete /var/cache/yum/* and update the system, yum complain that the file pkgtags.sqlite.gz is missing. But everything works and if I use PackageKit, nothing is noticeable.
Ok, it looks again I might fall asleep ....

yes, there are out of date. seeing '2010-Oct-08 21:07:45' did not appear that would be older than what you had.

ok. this was misleading;
It is a problem of update repository and any cleaning doesn't help. I compared the checksum of my local file and checksum of the same file downloaded from several mirrors and I got the same values.
i took it to mean sha1sum was failing also.

ok.
i am currently running in scientific linux and i have not updated fedora 12 in 2 weeks, because of some deps problems i ran into.
i have to go out and take care of some personal business. when i return, i will boot fedora 12 to see if my deps clear up and have a look at what i have in /var/cache/yum/*.
hopefully someone can reply with something helpful while i am gone.
much luck.

You have the similar way of thinking. I have a local Fedora's repository synchronized using rsync and waiting for SL6. Now I am tempted to install SL6 Pre-Alpha.

The yum complains about "pkgtags.sqlite.gz". The checksum of the file "pkgtags.sqlite" in the archive is the same as described in the file "repomd.xml". I am puzzled.
