bonjour,
Is there a version of dvdbackup working under FC4. I installed dries version but it doesn't work:
dvdbackup: symbol lookup error: dvdbackup: undefined symbol: UDFFindFile
It seems that FC4 version of libdvdread does not export that symbol....
Who knows?
Thanks.

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but I do have an alternative if you run into a dead end. I've recently been exploring different packages alleged to do different things with DVD video, but I always seemed to hit a roadblock. (The most recent was a bug in transcode that broke dvd::rip.) Then I saw in a forum somewhere someone recommended dvdshrink (a Windows app) running under wine. I figured what the hell, nothing has worked well yet, so why not... I downloaded the latest wine rpm for FC4 from winehq, then grabbed the latest dvdshrink, and installed both. Unbelievable. I was stunned. It worked the VERY first time without a single hitch.

There is yet another alternative: k9copy, a Linux DVD shrink. Its site:

I used to have problems with reading DVD using mplayer and dvdbackup, and turns out that it's a problem with libdvdread. Long story short, I ended up with libdvdread and libdvdcss from Livna repository and they seem to work best for my platform (FC 4 x86_64). .
I compiled dvdbackup-0.1.1 from source and it works fine: http://dvd-create.sourceforge.net/download.shtml
Make sure you also get the -devel packages if you're compiling from source.
Hope that helps. RDB

Thanks, this work with some tricks anyhow: the install of libdvdread does not use ldconfig and you are stuck if you want to build dvdbackup without it. Small misery....
I wonder why you can find rpm for libdvdread and dvdbackup on the same repository (dries) and dvdbackup does not working because libdvdread is not compiled with some option needed by dvdbackup....
So, i have now two libdvdread: one in /usr/lib64, one in /usr/local/lib
Another post of Anthony Massina on this topic, gives clue to make things more harmonious.

Submit a bug report and hopefully it will get fixed.
