I'm putting together a system based on FC for a friend, but can't quite get everything to work at the same time. The problem is that the latest update kernel (2.6.8.x), still has a problem with writing CDs for which there isn't a simple fix, or any imminent sign of an update. I've therefore had to go with 2.6.7-1.494.2.2.
I'd also like to get accelerated graphics to work (gotta be able to let them play tuxracer!), but Livna only keep the RPMs for the NVIDIA kernel module and nvidia-glx for the latest kernel. I've tried installing from the NVIDIA install script, but there isn't a prebuilt module on their download site for this kernel, and as this is a fairly limited install I don't have GCC available and it brought in a ton of stuff as dependencies when I tried to install it.
Does anyone therefore have a copy of the old nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx modules for 2.6.7-1.494.2.2 (preferably not SMP, but that's better than nothing!) that they could let me have a copy of please?
Any help is much appreciated.
Cheers
Simon.

Please go to NVidia's site. They have a source installer for their hardware. You will probably need to have development tools installed to compile it.

There are 2 modules, and a number of shared libraries, and a few more things.... Here's my installation directory, after I built/installed.

True, I used the nvidia-installer to update last time, not by downloading the actual package....

Not related to this but does anyone why the updates actually released havent been moved out of the testing tree. this would enable testers to actually look at the tree and find out easily which ones are about to be released. right?

Probably becuase the last kernel in the FC3 development tree is 2.6.9-1.667. I heard that there would be a 2 week delay in releasing FC3 so that the newest kernel could be fully tested before releasing it. Perhaps this is the same kernel they are talking about (just rebuilt for FC2, which means that the Fedora Folks aren't done fully testing it yet)....

...Actually, Fedora Core 3 will release to the mirrors for download on this Monday (11/8). It was actually only delayed 1 week for the extra kernel testing needs. I've been running it for a while now and it's starting to look quite good from my end.
<Off topic personal note> Hey, Kevin - (I'm assuming you're the Kevin Cummings I know from our Denver business ventures), drop me a line at chrisw@cawllc.com. We should talk - I may have a few good things simmering and assuming they fly, I'll need some good Linux folks I know to work with me as well as a good PM. It would be kind of cool to get some of our old team back on this one. I'm already talking to Doug E. If you didn't know, Kevin S. is now living in Ireland. Some guys have all the fun... </Off topic personal note>

Does anyone therefore have a copy of the old nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx modules for 2.6.7-1.494.2.2 (preferably not SMP, but that's better than nothing!) that they could let me have a copy of please?
Thanks to those who responded. Someone kindly sent me a copy of the original RPMs. Hopefully the official 2.6.9 kernel update (+livna support) will be out soon so I can get back to being fully up to date.
