I have installed FC-!3 in my system.Everything is working fine except the desktop effects. If i turn them on i cannot launch any applications like gimp or open office etc. If i click on any of the applications the machine will either get stuck or i will be automatically logged out of the machine. I am using a intel machine with core 13 processor and with 4GB RAM. What could be the problem????

I don't have any additional graphics hardware in my machine.

what about graphics card ???? which graphics cards is there in your system ?
will you post the output of the following[1] command
[1] lspci | grep VGA
This is the pout put of the command.
