Hello,
I am not able to play mp3 file on Rhythmbox with Fedora 23 XFCE. I have installed all drpm from RPM Fusion but for some reason i cannot play mp3 with rhythmbox. The do not show up also in Musik library under Rhythmbox, even if i enable the automatically import from settings.
Thank you! Diamantis

Exactly what do you mean by "all drpm"? If you mean you've installed all the rpms that are on RPM fusion, that's a bad idea.
Usually, installing support for one the encumbered formats (e.g. mp3) means installing some of the ffmpeg or gstreamer and gstreamer1 packages, usually with their -good and -bad sub-packages, and sometimes the -ugly sub-packages. There's a lot more sub-packages that you will not need, and it's up to you whether you want to open two cans of worms at the same time.
The two and a half of them (ffmpeg-* &/or gstreamer-*/gstreamer1-*) usually cover most audio programs. But some programs use the lame codec. And some programs have a -nonfree recompiled binary program package, that you either install instead, or use alongside.
I would have thought that doing an internet search for "fedora mp3 faq" would produce something useful. Or even a "yum search mp3" (or whatever the dnf equivalent command is).

General advice seemed to be that you should try playing a MP3 file with the Rhythmbox program, and when it fails to manage it, it will ask you permission to install additional codecs to support it. But there's more information on those links about doing it yourself.

To get Rythmbox to work, I installed ( from RPM-Fusion mostly ) gstreamer, all the codec packages, ffmpeg, ffmpeg-libs ...
All needed, but there is a secret one that is easy to miss and not marked as a pre-req...
gstreamer-ffmpeg
After that, kill it and restart it, and it should play mp3 files just fine.
With those, you'll likely get 100's of other packages that are required.

I built this list of stuff to install from several other sites. It seems to make pretty much everything work for me on Fedora. I initially did this for F19, but it's worked for every distro from 19 through 23:

1) shouldn't yum-fastestmirror be yum-plugin-fastestmirror?
2) I didn't know that Google had released a 64 bit chrome. Is there a 64 bit repo for it so it will update automatically?
Thanks for sharing such a comprehensive list!
