I usually manage to build easily one package. I changed the way I build my packages using a makerpm user, as it is the best way to avoid polluted environment variables.
The weird thins is I can't download the source anymore, and can't see why.
From my spec file:
------------ Name: R-intel Version: 3.2.3 Release: 1%{?dist} Summary: A language for data analysis and graphics URL: http://www.r-project.org Source0: http://cran.r-project.org/src/base/R-3/R-%%7Bversion%7D.tar.gz --------------------------------------------------
The URL exists.
-------------------------------- [makerpm@poppy rpmbuild]$ rpmbuild -ba SPECS/R-intel.spec error: File /home/makerpm/rpmbuild/SOURCES/R-3.2.3.tar.gz: No such file or direct --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there any reason why I can't download the source with this new user makerpm ? I must miss some settings.

EDIT : [makerpm@poppy rpmbuild]$ spectool -g SPECS/R-intel.spec download the file.

Could you please provide the spec file? Upload it to some public sharing site. Sure would like to see if the URL you provide is where the file is.

Here is the spec file[0] I suspect like some kind of permission

I downloaded it and renamed it to R.spec and ran
$ cd ....../SOURCES $ spectool -g ../SPECS/R.spec $ ls -l R-3.2.3.tar.gz -rw-r--r--. 1 jd jd 29816176 Dec 10 01:13 R-3.2.3.tar.gz
Now you can run rpmbuild -ba in the SPECS directory.
The URL exists.
[makerpm@poppy rpmbuild]$ rpmbuild -ba SPECS/R-intel.spec error: File /home/makerpm/rpmbuild/SOURCES/R-3.2.3.tar.gz: No such file or direct

perhaps you can try following command before the rpmbuild:
spectool -g -R SPECS/R-intel.spec
It looks pretty much like the downloaded file is not stored at /home/makerpm/rpmbuild/SOURCES/R-3.2.3.tar.gz
