On my Compaq dual boot laptop with FC7, I never got my Broadcom 43 wifi to work despite applying numerous suggestions received on this list. Are there relevant improvements in FC8, or is it best to wait for future developments?
Thanks for your advice.
Mike.

What exact board do you have? (give us the output of lspci)
I have a Compaq presario F505la, and with some work I got it to work very well on Fedora 7. Fedora 8 had some issues, but they were relevent to the kernel driver, so with the updated kernel it works great.

Which card are you using? I have:
Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)
as a mini wifi card on a Dell Inspiron 2200.
It worked fine under Fedora 6 using ndiswrapper and it works fine under Federa 8 using ndiswrapper.

Does this answer your question? If not, how should I obtain additional information?

FWIW, I just upgraded my wife's laptop from F7 to F8 (mainly because of problems with b43 in the newest F7 kernel) and it's working beautifully. I did do a clean install, and grabbed the firmware from the web site the driver recommends when it can't find any firmware.
