Just installed F7 on my Compaq Presario V6107AU notebook., which previously had FC6.
During startup, it says:
Starting hidd Can't listen to HID control channel. Address already in use [FAILED]
The only reference I could find via google is in french. Also, dmesg does not show anything useful that would give more explanation of the problem:
[jsalvo@c210-49-15-141 ~]$ dmesg | grep -i -C5 hidd Linux agpgart interface v0.102 (c) Dave Jones Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 4 ports, IRQ sharing enabled RAMDISK driver initialized: 16 RAM disks of 16384K size 4096 blocksize input: Macintosh mouse button emulation as /class/input/input0 usbcore: registered new interface driver libusual usbcore: registered new interface driver hiddev usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: v2.6:USB HID core driver PNP: PS/2 Controller [PNP0303:KBC0,PNP0f13:MSE0] at 0x60,0x64 irq 1,12 serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1 serio: i8042 AUX port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12
However, I do have this in /var/log/messages:
Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: irq 7: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option) Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: Call Trace: Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: <IRQ> [<ffffffff802ae114>] __report_bad_irq+0x30/0x72 Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff802ae323>] note_interrupt+0x1cd/0x20e Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff802aedfd>] handle_level_irq+0xb9/0xf1 Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff802582ac>] call_softirq+0x1c/0x28 Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff80265498>] do_IRQ+0xf1/0x15f Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff80263d5d>] default_idle+0x0/0x3d Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff80257631>] ret_from_intr+0x0/0xa Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: <EOI> [<ffffffff8022dfb7>] unix_poll+0x0/0x96 Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff80263d86>] default_idle+0x29/0x3d Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff8024423b>] cpu_idle+0x8c/0xaf Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: handlers: Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: [<ffffffff803b431f>] (usb_hcd_irq+0x0/0x52) Jun 16 23:15:45 c210-49-15-141 kernel: Disabling IRQ #7
The only way I could get rid of the above trace is by removing "noapic" from the kernel boot parameter, but if I remove "noapic", I would get lockups and my notebook would freeze under a few seconds / minutes even before the startup completes. So I have to leave the "noapic" option added.
Furthermore, my Olympus digital camera when plugged-in to the USB port is not recognised in F7, but it did with FC6.
When my Olympus digital camera is plugged-in to the USB port, the camera displays the options "PC, PRINT, EXIT". When I select "PC", it displays "ONE MOMENT" and nothing happens. Under FC6, after displaying 'ONE MOMENT", the LEDs on the camera would light up and eventually a new mount point is shown on the notebook.
It is as if the digital camera is waiting for some input or signal from the notebook.
Any ideas ?
Regards,
J

I also upgraded from FC6 to F7 and get that same hidd failure at start time. Is there an FC7 change that the upgrade would miss? (seems to me bluetooth is a new service, possibly superceding hidd??)
Did anybody have any ideas, ever?
Hi,
any news on this subject?

I also have this behaviour on 2 machines. My bluetooth mouse and my mobile phone connect anyway, but the red 'Failed' disturbs my every time I boot :-)
