Sound volume in f18 and xfce

Each time I start my laptop, the sound is set to 153% or whatever max is. A tap of the
slider in the panel which is at 100% resets it to 100% (and not past that) and it sounds
fine.

Any idea how to stop this from resetting to max each startup?
