Hi All,
Fedora 34 mate-desktop-1.26.0-1.fc34.x86_64
When I am in Mate, after a period of activity, I get this annoying lock screen (if that is what it is called).
I have set the screen saver to no lock and turned power and hibernate off.
How do I rid myself of this annoyance?
Many thanks, -T

That should have been "inactivity" not "activity"

I had a problem when the xfce screensaver was automatically activating whenever I brought X up, even though I wasn't running xfce. I changed its settings, and that fixed things. Perhaps you are having the same issue with another screensaver? What does rpm -qa | grep screen show?

Hi Stan,
I have both xfce and mate installed. The issue only happens when I am in mate. I tend to stay out of mate because of it.

$ rpm -qa | grep screen xfce4-screenshooter-1.9.8-2.fc34.x86_64 xfce4-screenshooter-plugin-1.9.8-2.fc34.x86_64 gnome-screenshot-40.0-1.fc34.x86_64 xscreensaver-base-6.01-3.fc34.x86_64 xscreensaver-extras-base-6.01-3.fc34.x86_64 xscreensaver-extras-6.01-3.fc34.x86_64 xscreensaver-gl-base-6.01-3.fc34.x86_64 xscreensaver-gl-extras-6.01-3.fc34.x86_64 xscreensaver-6.01-3.fc34.x86_64 mate-screenshot-1.26.0-1.fc34.x86_64 mate-screensaver-1.26.0-1.fc34.x86_64

Figured it out.
I found the stinking screensaver had been set to lock yet again. I am wondering if updates are doing this. I must have set the stinker to false 30 times now!
Me thinks I will set it to off in startup if it keeps coming back.

My notes:
MATE: disable lock screen
You can go into the plug in --> System --> Preferences --> look and feel --> screensaver And turn off the lock screen,
OR from the command line (startup etc.)
Set: $ /usr/bin/gsettings set org.mate.screensaver lock-enabled
Query: $ /usr/bin/gsettings get org.mate.screensaver lock-enabled false
