Before rawhide shutdown, up2date worked fine for me. Rawhide appears to be back, well up2date says there are updates to retrieve, but when I run up2date it stalls fetching header info. This machine isn't registered, but skipping that has worked in the past ...
Hints?

The header files were available long enough to be downloaded the rhn_applet and then the directories were locked down again. I checked the rawhide directory on http://ftp.redhat.com and noticed that several directories were still not accessible, even though I could download the header files.

isn't back for now. Your error is typical for that situation.
You can check if you try with a browser:
http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/rawhide/
you will get a 403 / forbidden

Odd, considering I just updated my box w/ yum from the redhat servers...

It is odd, considering that up2date gives me an error: Fetching rpm headers... There was some sort of I/O error: Not a gzipped file
And my browser gives me a 403 error on http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/rawhide/
But yum is working on a server with a baseurl of http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/rawhide

well it's seems to be a bit up and down... literally.
sometimes works, sometimes 403 errors.
if your desperate keep trying with yum otherwise give em 24 hours.
