Hi
I needed to use wineconsole and after installing the latest available packages (1.3.1-1) I got the following message when trying to start wineconsole cmd: err:wineconsole:WINECON_Fatal Couldn't find a decent font, aborting
Installing different fonts and "export LANG= en_US.UTF-8" didn't help. Does anyone have any idea? trying f13 and f14 gave me the same results although the current packages in f13 are v.1.2.0.

Did you install the Liberation fontset?
Did you look through the Wine FAQ at http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ for an answer as well?

Did you read my question at all before pointing to the FAQ???
Just for you information - the liberation fonts are installed by default in fedora with the kde. And YES I used google which shows the same problem being discussed in 2002, 2003 and 2008. That's why I tried the export LANG=.....
So here is the question one more time, because obviously you didn't take your time to think about an answer.

You did not state this. What is your default language? It appears that it is other than English by this statement.

Let me understand this better. You state that Wine 1.2 does not work either after you use yum to remove and purge the Wine 1.3.1 package?
Also, which package did you install? Wine 64 bit has problems that Wine 32 bit does not.
You might get a better response by posting to the Wine-User list as well.
And pointing you to the FAQ was because you had not stated all of the facts. I did not know you are using KDE, this may make a difference.

Actually I need to run a simple batch file. That's why I used a kde-livecd-f14-x86_64 and installed wine-core.i686 wine-wow.i686, wine-common and wine-fonts. All dpendencies were pull automatically. Wine works fine but when trying to start "wineconsole cmd" I got the error message.
Therefore I decided to use an older version of wine and tried the f13.x86_64 livecd and installed exactly the same 4 packages. You can find the current versions in the repo.
I remember that I did the same thing about 2-3 months ago and then I didn't get this error. That's why I posted here to see if someelse has had this problem.
Actually winconsole cmd doesn't work for me and wine does. That's strange. To test it just grab the lasted livecd and install the aforementioned packages. Trying different fonts didn't help either.
