This may be off topic. I am not sure.
I am using Evolution as my email client. I am using the exchange connector (there is room for improvement but it works). The next step for me is to get my Pilot (Clie actually) to synch with Evolution. I am not having any luck. I am hoping that someone else has.
Scenario: 1. Open Evolution 2. Select Pilot Settings from Tools 3. Gnome-Pilot opens up 4. Leave name as "Cradle" Leave port as /dev/pilot Leave speed at 57600 Change connection to USB 5. Forward-> 6. Yes, I have used sync... is selected 7. Forward-> 8. Press "HotSynch" button 9. ERROR The Application "gpilotd" has quit unexpectedly ... blah blah blah.
I have started gpilotd from the command line and it does not appear to be communicating with it. It starts without error and keeps running with no messages generated by the error. It is my thought that the gnome-pilot configuration program is not able to talk to the daemon. I am guessing, though.
Environment: FC4 2.6.12 Evolution 2.2.3 gpilotd 2.0.13

This link points to patched versions that are outdated. You know where we can get patched versions that are current?
Thanks, pete

Those are the last u can find. Last evolution version seems to include fixes, as commented on the thread. After updating evolution with yum as usual, nothing fails so far on two pcs.

Dang. I'm all up-to-date, but gpilod still fails almost as soon as I hit the hotsync button. There seems to be no difference for me. Pleh.

Are you sure you've installed the packages? Did you reload gpilotd to the memory, restart the service? With the patched version, same error seems difficult to raise again...

I'm pretty sure. yum update gives me nothing. I'm using gnome-pilot 2.0.13-2. When I make sure no gpilotd is running, then run gpilotd in debug mode (--debug) with the gpilotd-control-applet and try to do that inital sync it wants to do, gpilotd crashes with the usual "gpiltd has crashed" dialog box after this:
gpilotd-Message: setting PILOTRATE=57600
The exit value is 1.
I'm not using the patched versions of anything as I understood you to say that the patches were in the most recent versions. Upon reflection, I'm thinking you might have meant the most recent versions of Evo, but I'll still need the patched version of gnome-pilot.

Im using 2.0.13-4, you didnt read my messages. Im (and the gnome-pilot-list is) suggesting the use of PATCHED versions, except for evolution, which includes them on its latest release. Read the thread again. Good luck.

Indeed, things seem to work with the updated gnome-pilot. Now, to figure out how to get evo to honor the categories I'm using on my PDA vs just dumping them all into one category....
Thanks, pete
