gnome-shell, wayland problem with gnome-ssh-askpass

My system:

Linux  4.9.3-200.fc25.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Jan 13 01:01:13 UTC 2017 x86_64

I running gnome3 NO X11 and I have setup keychain to run at launch of a
terminal for the ssh agent.  Have set the variable:


GPG_TTY=/usr/libexec/openssh/gnome-ssh-askpass

I have also used gnome-tweak-tool to have the gnome-terminal autostart,
as well as nautilus.

PROBLEM:

When I login, the screen is blank.  Nothing shows, the mouse is frozen,
nothing.  However, if I type my passphrase for my ssh key (assuming
that the asskpass window is active) then after entering the return key,
the desktop become responsive and finishes logging me in.
When I set the desktop to be Gnome - X11, then the askpass window
displays and all is good.
When the desktop is set to Gnome (wayland), then the askpass windows
does not display, but it is waiting for keyboard entry.

Reading it looks like the DISPLAY is not yet set.

Is there a way (other than not autostarting the terminal) to delay the
askpass dialog till a DISPLAY is set?  Or any other ideas?

Check dmesg with intel driver fifo underrun.

No solution, but other ideas...

I use keychain too.  When Fedora 25 first came out with Wayland as the 
default it did not start a login shell and did not process .bash_profile...

...I started having the same problem you are having.

Before Wayland, I realized that if I added the openssh-askpass package, 
it would provide the GUI to enter pass phrases when using keychain.  I 
have it installed on the machine in question and it isn't bringing up 
the GUI.  I wonder if it needs to be updated to recognize Wayland and 
present a GUI?  Are we typing in a hidden terminal when we are typing 
our pass phrases?

I rebooted the machine to start over, then logged in as root vi ssh on 
another machine to see what was running when we were being prompted for 
our passphrase.  Here's a filtered version of

It looks like I'm typing into tty2, but no prompt?

Is the "no prompt" intentional for security?

What if you screw up your pass phrase?

I load multiple keys via keychain, so this could really get confusing.

Any ideas out there?
