I recently had to re-install FC6. Now my 17" CRT that I have always ran at 1024x760 can only be set at 800x600 or 640x480. I have looked high and low but cannot find the source of the problem.
What do I need to do to restore my original resolution?

Have you run system-config-display and verified that your graphics card is installed?

Make sure the monitor is not set to the "generic monitor". Pick some vendor's CRT that has higher resolutions.

Which X driver are you using?

Same thing happened to me about a day or two ago- go through System/Administration/Display; you'll be able to change it there. That 800x600/640x480 selection option was thought of, by a real doofus. Oh... I'm sorry; that's MR Doofus.

On occasion I too run into this situation. I have a LCD so I don't think it is a monitor situation possibly a video card issue(Mine is a nvidia Geforce2 MX100 DDR). If I log off and re-log on the resolution returns to 1280X1024.

What's set as the monitor? If it's some automatic plug and play, it might play with what it considers safe values. I had that problem until I manually picked the model of VDU I had.
