In prior releases, I was able to log in to the CUPS web UI using the OS root credentials. This doesn't work in Fedora 18.
How can I log into the CUPS web UI in Fedora 18?
Thanks!

Anyhow, does this help: http://hplipopensource.com/node/231
I also saw something about making sure that the lpd service is not running.

I just tried root on my f18 system and it works fine. I do have selinux turned off. Are you getting selinux problems logged when you try it?
Looks like I typo'ed (probably caps lock) the root password the last time I changed it. Ah, the joys of sudo ...
What's the emoticon for slapping oneself on the forehead?

$ sudo su -
should get you to root; I think, then you can change the passwd back to something you know.

it did NOT work out-of-the-box as it does not now
but it would be mch easier to help you if you would provide some infos what are the error messages, if cups is at least listening on TCP
netstat --numeric-hosts --numeric-ports --programs -u -t | grep 631

cat /etc/cups/cupsd.conf | grep 631 Listen localhost:631
