This is an error message I have not had before:
[root@box10 bobg]# yum update Loaded plugins: langpacks, refresh-packagekit adobe-linux-x86_64 | 951 B 00:00:00 fedora/20/x86_64/metalink | 18 kB 00:00:00 fedora | 3.8 kB 00:00:00 rpmfusion-free-rawhide | 3.3 kB 00:00:00 rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide | 3.3 kB 00:00:00 updates/20/x86_64/metalink | 17 kB 00:00:00 updates | 4.6 kB 00:00:00 http://mirror.west.ig2ad.com/Fedora/linux/updates/20/x86_64/repodata/repomd....: [Errno -1] repomd.xml does not match metalink for updates Trying other mirror. updates | 3.4 kB 00:00:00 http://mirror.uoregon.edu/fedora/linux/updates/20/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno -1] repomd.xml does not match metalink for updates Trying other mirror. updates | 3.4 kB 00:00:00 http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/fedora.redhat/linux/updates/20/x86_64/repoda...: [Errno -1] repomd.xml does not match metalink for updates Trying other mirror.
And it continues ad infinitum.
Knowing nothing else to try I did "yum clean metadata" and then "yum clean all." That did not help.
Am I the only one?

There was a fix for that in F20, F19 & F20 use the same yum. Grab the latest yum(f20) from koji, and install: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=484549

Ok, I did that and it appears to have stumbled through the update protesting about several mirrors but made it to the end and looks good.
Thank you,
Bob

Installed: kernel.x86_64 0:3.11.10-301.fc20 kernel-modules-extra.x86_64 0:3.11.10-301.fc20
However that kernel did not boot, I had to revert to 3.11.10-300.fc20.x86_64.

I was similarly afflicted by this & surmounted it by commenting out '192.168.1.254' in /etc/resolv.conf & replacing it with Google's nameservers: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4.
Cheers,
Phil...

FWIW, I would expect some instabilities in the not yet released F20 repos as we approach formal release on Tuesday, December 17, 2013.
