Will FC4 work on a notebook/tablet pc? I am considering purchasing one but they seem to come with a special install of Windows XP tablet pc edition. Does linux have supprt for tablet pc yet?

making laptops with exotic features work under linux is something of an involved systems integration task. It's taken me about 3 months to wade through the issues that were making my dell inspiron 6000 less functional than my three year old dell inspiron 4150 for example...
emperor linux has done it for the thinkpad x41 tablet.

given the amount of time it generally takes me to hack a new laptop into working order, their markup is worth it to have someone else do that.

Yes. The Linux Wacom Project (linuxwacom.sourceforge.net) should allow you to utilize the tablet functionality in Linux. Although it requires some modifications to your xorg.conf file (documented on the website). You can install this driver on Fedora with the command "yum install linuxwacom". I've used a traditional Wacom tablet under Fedora quite well with this driver.
If you're still unsure, I suggest Googling for others who have installed Linux on the machine in question. Many write articles detailing their successes and failures, and these may give you an insight into how well the linuxwacom driver supports that particular tablet pc.

Not sure about FC4 specifically, but I might be getting a wack of xybernauts to outfit my local police department with. I checked them out on the website and they do have a version with linux. I will be getting a unit for myself but will of course be running linux rather than windows. I have a demo unit at the station but it isn't the xp one. It has some version of windows mobile and it won't suit my needs yet. I'll hopefully be getting some different units this week with some more power. I'll need bluetooth and 802.11b/g for my needs.
