Hello, Does anyone know where I can find a list of supported PCI wireless card for FC 4 ? I am looking to buy a cheapo PCI Wireless card for an old desktop, but I want to have something that will work out of the box with FC 4 (ie. I don't really want to deal with ndiswrapper, etc).
Thanks. RDB

Well, I am not exactly looking for a complete HCL. Something more general would do, like the "orinoco chipset works great", "never buy xxx ", etc. Or even anything anecdotal from others.

Well, I for one can recommend a card based on the Prism chipset, such as the Zyxel ZyAIR G-100. which I am using at the moment. It is easy to set up and works well.

Ah, but wouldn't a complete HCL come in handy though? Especially one like FreeBSD's. Saves one from having to go on an extended turd hunt ;-)

Buy the "Orinoco Classic Gold" card. You should be able to find numerous vendors that sell it very reasonably at www.pricegrabber.com

I highly recommend a card based on the Ralink RT2500, because:
- Ralink GPLed their code - this means no messing with wrappers and binaries - let's support manufacturers who do this - you can get Ralink-based cards nice and cheap
I'm using this card with FC4, works great:
Foxconn WLL-3350 http://www.foxconnchannel.com/productsDownload_wireless.cfm?pWireless=WLL-33...
Cost <$20 at newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833194001
Drivers from here: http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/

I couldn't agree more. Ralink-based cards are cheap, supported and have open-source drivers. Go buy one...
