Eric, to install the driver you just run system-config-packages and select development, this will install all the necessary libraries to built your driver go to the http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page page to get the latest release and build it with the instructions posted in there under Fedora. It has worked for me since FC4 when I got the wireless card I've been using with. If still fails, let me know to send you the specific instructions on how to do it.

And there is some good news, the driver rt2x00 is in current rawhide, so it will be in Fedora 7.

As an aside, has anyone packaged the rt61 driver? I need it for my laptop as I don't seem to be able to get the source to compile :S

There was an error in the sources related to a change in the kernel sources (development headers). What error do you get when compiling?

Well of course the same applies here, it is in the development repo, included in the kernel.
There is somebody that also packaged it, I don't know how well it works: http://kwizart.free.fr/fedora/
