Have an issue with newly installed F7 and evolution with a cups print server for the network.
Nowhere in evolution can you choose page size when you print - as far as I can tell.
It appears the default page size is A4 and that setting is somewhere in the bowels of GNOME and I cannot figure out how to switch it to US Letter.
Anyone want to toss me a bone...it would seem to be a simple thing but I have 30 minutes chasing my tail around and I can't figure out how to get at something like this - even with the most crude gconftool-2
TIA

I have noticed somewhat the same thing. I would think this could be changed by the lpoptions command. -- ======================================================================= Humor in the Court: Q: Now, you have investigated other murders, have you not, where there was a victim? ======================================================================= Aaron Konstam telephone: (210) 656-0355 e-mail: akonstam@sbcglobal.net

---- No suggestion in the bugzilla reference from deerfieldtech that lpoptions would alter this behavior - and no efforts on my part disproved that. It's obvious that this was a hard coded problem upstream and apparently that have put out a fix which hopefully is adopted soon on Fedora 7.
I am rather surprised by the lack of discussion on this here...which suggests some or many of the following: - few people using US sized paper are using Evolution - few people using GNOME on Fedora 7 (KDE no longer defaults to using Evolution) - few people print from Evolution - few people using Fedora 7

this will be the main reason, why should i put an email on a piece of paper ? I've never printed from Evolution before this thread ;-)

---- Well, you can print but in our office, the job waits for you to put in A4 sheet but you can tell it to go ahead and print and it will suck through a legal sheet.
While I don't print e-mail all that often, and if pressed, I suppose I could copy/paste into a text program but consider...
- evolution is a PIM and you amass calendar, task lists, notes as well as e-mails.
- it reflects rather poorly as I have successfully gotten this non- profit corp. to eschew Macs and Windows systems in favor of Dell Optiplex systems with kickstart installed Fedora 7 only to stumble into this problem. Thankfully, I have configured for each user, Thunderbird, Kmail, Korgainizer, KaddressBook as well as Evolution.
I was trying to express my surprise by how few people have sounded off on this issue. It's a problem - but of course, only if you print from Evolution.

Well I noticed this a while ago. I like you tried to find an option in evolution to change the A4 printing. I did not find it. As soon as I made the lpoptions suggestion I realized that htis was not the answer since lpoptions -l said the Pagesize was Letter.
Unfortunately I assumed that it was my stupidity nor a evolution problem. I was obviously wrong.

In FC6, I can go to System / Administration / Printing select (in the Printer configuration window that came up) Local Printers / printer select the "Printer Options" tab, and set the Page Size to Letter there.
Does this not work in FC7?

If one needs to print emails from Evolution, try printing to PDF (I used cups-pdf-2.4.6-1.fc7) then print the PDF as normal. Printing the PDF seems to override that it is in A4 size.

No, that does the same thing that lpoptions command.
