Hello,
I am trying to access to my Android (8.1.0, kernel 4.4.95+) through the USB cable, but I fails. Using sshfs, it works fine: sshfs pdupre@192.168.1.15:/storage/emulated/0 -p 2222 /home/pdupre/Android and I get all the hierarchy Now through the USB cable, I can see the Android: It is mounted as A20Pro I can umount, but the Folder is empty If I try: ls /var/run/user/1000/gvfs/mtp:host=Blackview_A20Pro_BVA20Pro0008811/ it is also empty If I try to edit something, I get
touch: cannot touch '/var/run/user/1000/gvfs/mtp:host=Blackview_A20Pro_BVA20Pro0008811/test': Permission denied
lsusb: Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0e8d:2008 MediaTek Inc. A20Pro
I use fedora 30

Hi Patrick,
FC 30 here too
I have found that the only reliable file manger that works with my Androids is Nautilus.
Also, when you plug you USB cable in, yo have to tell your Android what kind of device it is to present to the other end of the cable. Sometimes you get the choice of Mass Storage and sometimes you get MTP device. Nautilus is the only one that I have found that works reliably with MTP

I just installed Xfce from the Live ISO and updated all packages. I connected my Samsung S6 running Android 7 and it works just fine. No crashing, no issues.

Oh, when you said "Not on mine" I suppose you were talking about your F29 system? The OP stated he was running F30.
Good to know thunar on your F30 system is working as it should.
Thank for all the suggestions, however, it does not work:
dolphin:
The file or folder udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-1 does not exist.
nautilus: mtp://Blackview_A20Pro_BVA20Pro0008811/ folder empty

OK, I just fired up my F30 Gnome VBox system.
When I go to "files" there is an entry for "SAMSUNG Android" on the left side. Clicking on it shows "Empty File" and a pop-up on the phone asks for permission to allow access. Once I allow access the directory is populated and everything works as expected
And there is the following....
[egreshko@f30g mtp:host=SAMSUNG_SAMSUNG_Android_ad051602403470b326]$ pwd /run/user/1000/gvfs/mtp:host=SAMSUNG_SAMSUNG_Android_ad051602403470b326
[egreshko@f30g mtp:host=SAMSUNG_SAMSUNG_Android_ad051602403470b326]$ ls Card Phone
And I can cd through the directory structure.
[egreshko@f30g Camera]$ ls 20190613_140038.jpg
[egreshko@f30g Camera]$ pwd /run/user/1000/gvfs/mtp:host=SAMSUNG_SAMSUNG_Android_ad051602403470b326/Card/DCIM/Camera
for example
OK,
It is fixed. I need to authorize the file transfer on the Android. But, it does not work with dolphin It works with nautilus and in direct access.
One more question. Sometimes the (USB) devices disappear in the list of mounted devices. If I log out and log back in. it records the list. I guess that there is another way to regenerate the list of USB devices. Could you tell me? Thank.

Well, since you're on Gnome it is possible not all the underlying bits are installed just by installing dolphin on Gnome.

Unplug the device, wait a bit, plug it back in.

Unplug the device, wait a bit, plug it back in.
Sometimes, it is not enough, even if I wait.

Then you should be checking your logs to determine why the system isn't detecting unplug/plug events.
