I check ifconfig and route, even stop iptables, I still can't ping from or to my PC. I suspect this is the hardware problem.

/sbin/ifconfig will show you your IP address and netmask
For example, you could see something like this:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:DB:71:46:00 inet addr:192.168.1.1 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
If your PC is on the 192.168.1.0/24 network, try to ping it from the linux box. Pings from your PC to your linux box may be blocked by iptables. You could turn it off with '/sbin/service iptables stop'.
If your PC is not on 192.168.1.0 then you need to adjust your IP settings in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and run '/sbin/service network restart' so that your 2 computers are on the same network.

I just installed FC2 and configured network. However, I can not ping anything except localhost, nor rlogin to the system from my pc. How do I check if my FC2 system actually is able to access to the internet?

Too few information Nina. How do you think anyone can help you? If you suspect a hardware problem it would be helpful to say which network card it is (chipset; output of lspci about the NIC), which module you have loaded for it, whether it has an IRQ (cat /proc/interrupts). I assume from your reply that ifconfig and route do present proper values. Is you ethernet cable ok? The proper type (cross connect or non crossed) of cable?
