What's wrong with the following:
#! /usr/bin/expect -f
spawn /usr/bin/kinit user@DOMAIN.COM expect "?COM:" send "password\r"
The password never seems to get sent, but diags from -d switch indicate that the expect string did match.
you might want to google expect debugging, its verbose output will help you a lot...
