Hi folks.
I've followed the instructions to install the flash plugin by downloading the YUM version and then installing the RPM. I got no errors when doing any of this. However, flash still does not work in Firefox. If I do 'about:plugins' it isn't listed.
Any suggestions on what to try next. All I'm getting from Google is variations of the same instructions I've already done. Try out the open source version - gnash-plugin :-)
yum remove flash-plugin
....
yum install gnash-plugin
Reindl, I had installed the flash RPM too.
Frank, there were selinux entries in the audit log but there was no timestamp on the entries I was unable to re-create them by running firefox and accessing youtube.
Rejy, I did as you suggested below and I can now watch videos on youtube. I haven't yet tried anything else such as the webcam.
Thanks for you help

have you *really installed* the plugin or only the release
this is *not* the same and all the hacks with symlinks are bad and useless in case of the RPM
[harry@rh:~]$ rpm -qa | grep adobe-release adobe-release-x86_64-1.0-1.noarch
[harry@rh:~]$ rpm -qa | grep flash flash-plugin-11.2.202.285-release.x86_64
Allegedly, on or about 06 June 2013, Gary Stainburn sent:
[gary@gary ~]$ rpm -qa|grep firefox firefox-21.0-3.fc17.x86_64
x86_64 means 64-bit
[gary@gary ~]$ rpm -qa|grep flash flash-plugin-11.2.202.285-release.i386
i386 means 32-bit
Probably isn't compatible without some sort of handler between the two of them.
Whereas mine works: firefox-21.0-3.fc17.x86_64 flash-plugin-11.2.202.285-release.x86_64

You have the 32-bit version of the Flash Player installed on a 64-bit system. 64-bit Firefox cannot use 32-bit NPAPI plugins. This might have happened if you downloaded the "adobe-release" RPM on a 32-bit system or you used an old download from a different system.
To fix this, remove the "adobe-release-i386" and "flash-plugin" packages with yum: `yum remove adobe-release-i386 flash-plugin`. Then visit the Adobe website at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer on the computer you intend to install it on. Make sure the Operating System information at the top reads "Linux 64-bit", and then select the YUM rpm option, which will download an "adobe-release-x86_64" RPM as opposed to the "adobe-release-i386" RPM you used previously. Install it, then run `yum install flash-plugin` and everything should work fine.

Does "nspluginwrapper.i686" still work with the Flash plugin on x86_64?
$ yum search wrapper firefox|grep 86 nspluginwrapper.i686 : A compatibility layer for Netscape 4 plugins
It used to be the only way to get Adobe's Flash Player for x86_64 when they didn't ship a build for x86_64. Installing the wrapper will pull in other i686 packages as dependencies, but that's not a problem for many users.

Mine has it installed. And I've been viewing flash in Firefox on youtube, and other places, for ages.

I have had problems recently with 32 bit Flash locking up my 64 bit Firefox 21 when Firefox 20 worked fine on the same system. Making the switch from the 32 bit Flash to the 64 bit Flash solved the problem for me. So I would suggest that the nspluginwrapper has developed some incompatibilities with Firefox starting at version 21.

T.C. I finally managed to follow your in structions and it has indeed fixed the problem viewing youtube as well as web chatting/Skype. However, although I can watch the other person's web cam I can't get mine to work.
Anyone got any ideas? I've tried manually setting the library path before calling firefox as per one google result but that didin't do it

Hi Gary, You haven't mentioned whether you are using the 64 bit version of Fedora with the 64 bit version of firefox. I'm using the upstream nightly version of firefox and have had the same problem, which I have subsequently solved. The issue I found was the Fedora installs the flash plugin in /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins but firefox (irrespective of whether its the 32 bit or 64 bit version) looks for its plugins in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. I resolved the issue by inserting a link to /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins (I called the link libflashplayer.so for simplicity).
regards, Steve

Steve, this was my original problem as I had a 32-bit plugin installed. However, I now have 64-bit installed. I can watch other people's webcams now but mine still refuses to work.
It does work in Skype on the same laptop.

Hi Gary, Does your version of firefox see the totem plugins? Even though you have the Fedora 64 bit version of Firefox installed if they haven't changed the upstream defaults then it is presumably still looking for its plugins in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, hence it shouldn't see the totem plugins either.
regards, Steve.
