Hi:
I am stuck rebooting with evolution crashing on exit and then refusing to start. Any ideas?

Did you try to manually kill the processes? ps -elf |grep evo
--fb

use evolution --force-shutdown to kill evolution. evolution spans other processes. Just killing evolution doesn't fix the problem.
BTW - Ximian has released a newer version of evolution, 1.4.5 I think.

Not on the default path, but it still works.
/usr/libexec/evolution/1.4/killev
Excellent - just a symlink away from being in the path.
Example: ln -s /usr/libexec/evolution/1.4/killev /usr/bin/killev
Works great and just in time too.
Cheers,

Check bugzilla 105715
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=105715
You can control it with 'killall -9 evolution-wombat' but it is a reported bug.

'killev' and if that doesn't work 'oaf-slay' can help with Evolution problems.
Attention with oaf-slay -- to misquote Bruce Willis: "oaf-slay is a broadsword" -- it will kill evolution, nautilus, ... -- whatever happens to be running at the moment that uses oaf.

... which doesn't solve the problem. It is suspected that it is ORBit2 or even glibc-related: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=102554
