How do I set foreground and background in mate terminal?

Hi All,

In xfce-terminal, in Edit--> preferences, I can set
my forgoudnand background colros anas well as font
size.

In mate-terminal, I have edit profiles, etc.  Seems like
it would affect other things than just mate-terminal.

Also, is there a generic terminal I can install similar
to xfce-terminal?

How about xfce4-terminal?

If you like the xfce-terminal, then why not use it within MATE?

I do not know what "generic" means in this context.

I am!  I like it a lot better than mate's terminal

I do not know what the beneift in that would be.
