I am using the default Evolution package installed by FC1.
I am rather disappointed at the limitations imposed by the application when sending messages:
NO font sizes NO font colours NO "Justified" paragraph alignment
All of these options are greyed out BY DEFAULT.
Is this a bug?. Can anyone help?.
Cheers,
Arturo Duran

The out-of-box default is plaint text message. Aside from changing the default for all mail to html, you can change an individual message to html from the format menu. This enables the font stuff.

You can't have those in plain text emails. If you _must_ send formatted text in email, send it as a PDF attachment.

Good. The program works correctly.

Unless your default Composer settings are for HTML, you get plain text, which cannot have colors, fonts sizes or other formatting.
Either:
1. Go to Tools -> Settings -> Composer Preferences and select "Format Messages in HTML"
OR
2. When you create a new e-mail, select Format and check HTML.
Then you will have your formatting options.
Option number 2 is better, since your default messages (like to this list) will be plain text, which is the preferred approach.

HTH,
This is what I find funny. No offense, Arturo, there are still a few of us out here who HATE getting HTML email. Evolution handles both fine. The fact that it doesn't default to HTML is a *feature* in my book.

Hi, Preston,
Thanks to you and the others for such quick responses. I had the feeling it could not be a bug, but just a hole in my attention to detail; as simple as setting HTML as default format...
Anyway, I got to know this because of your help.
BTW, what is so insecure / worrying about using HTML for e-mail?.
Regards,
Arturo Duran Navacerrada, Madrid, Spain

1) Text-based readers find it incomprehensible. 2) Those that read from alternative devices (phones, pagers, etc) have to put up with html tags from within. 3) It increases the size of the message without contributing to the content. For people that receive tons of email and have mail box quota this can cause their box to fill prematurely. And people with slow dial-up connections have to tolerate longer download times. 4) Some of the mail readers that do comprehend HTML render the message in illegibly small fonts. 5) Many of the people who can help you with your problems filter out HTML formatted email. You'll reduce the number of potential people who can help you out of a jam.
That is just a few of the problems.

When you compose a message, it is by default plain text. Set it to Format->HTML and the formating you want is available.
I hope this eases some disappointment..

I use Evolution all the time, I think is great.
By default the editor is set to write the e-mail in a plain text format (which I think is the most used, and of course more secure). If you want to have all the sizes, colors, etc, you will have to go to the tools menu|configuration|editor preferences and check de default format to HTML.
If this is not clear, drop me a mail and I'll send you a screen-shot from where you can find the option (my system is in Spanish).
Best regards.

This is because you're sending plain text emails, not html.
