Yes. Not that Dell officially supports such, but it works. Tools such as Dell OpenManage are not expected to work on Fedora. You just can't call Dell Technical Support with OS-related questions (you of course can call regarding hardware issues).
You may also wish to join the linux-poweredge mailing list (http://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-poweredge) which is for system administrators of Dell PowerEdge servers.
Thanks, Matt
Dear all,
I've been using FC11 on a Dell Precision 690 for a while, before to loose mouse and keyboard: After a reboot, every thing goes well for 10 or 15 minutes, and then I have mouse and keyboard problem.
I was using a PS2 keyboard, that I changed to USB keyboard; same for the mouse. No changes.
Last week, I installed FC12, and then for a couple of days, every things was OK until this week-end, I updated my system (using yum update).
I rebooted my system this morning, and 15 minutes after, the mouse and keyboard bug appears again. NO Messages, Nothing in system's logs.
How to solv the problem?

Hi every body,
The kernel I used was : 2.6.31.12-174.2.3.fc12.x86_64. Keyboard and mouse becomes inactive after about 15 minutes after each reboot.
Yesterday, I decided to go back to first installed kernel (2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64) and since, I have no more keyboard and mouse problem.
Kernel or input devices bug???
Sincerly,
Taoufik

Hello Taoufik,
I too faced similar issue, but at last the issue was figured out to be with my Intel Board PS2 ports. Here is the trick that i used to figuring out the same : I tried booting the machine without any bootable media [Hard Disk/CD-rom] , passed out time roaming over in BIOS settings and there it was the system hung again, hence the OS was spared off from being the culprit. Used my PS2 keyboard and mouse via a ps/2 to USB adapter converter and it just worked fine, have sent in my board to Intel for replacement presently. Try out the same hope it helps, you can also try working under the Live CD of UBUNTU in order to check if its an issue specific to Fedora, in my case the the system hung with UBUNTU too. Also to mention i did saw "i8042.c: Can't read CTR while initializing i8042" a couple of times at booting times during the days.
Thanks Saurabh

Dear Shaurabh,
As the problem appear under FC11, I first changer PS2 Keyboard and mouse to USB ones. Like the problem was also present, I decided to upgrade OS to FC12, wich gave me real satisfaction for 3 or 4 days, until the time I decided to update the system. And then the problem appears again.
Thank you for your contribution,
Taoufik
