When I was running F20 with Gnome, I could mount my Samsung Gs3. First it mounted the windows installer. I did nothing, just waited, and this mount disappeared then the Samsung device mount appeared and I could access the files. Mostly to move videos and pictures around.
Now on F21 with Xfce, I only get the Windows install mount which disappears after a bit, then nothing. No device is showing under /dev
I really need to get some files onto the phone, and take some off. And no F20 or Gnome systems here.
Anyone else working with a Samsung phone and F21?
I am planning on upgrading my phone. Either to a Gs4 or Note4. Does anyone have experience with either of these?
My cellular account is with VerizonWireless if this makes any difference.
thanks

I'm not all hung up on being able to mount my phone on my systems. I only care about moving files from time to time. So, I just use an sftp client like....
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lysesoft.andftp
Works well enough for me on my Samsung Galaxy S4.

Since I took the route of a fresh build, and moved from Gnome to Xfce, I would not be supprised if there is some setting I do not have right.

Looking back at old messages on this subject, Samsung needs MTP support via simple-mtpfs. I installed this, but it is still not mounting the phone. I am getting:
# simple-mtpfs -l 1: SamsungGalaxy models (MTP)
I would have to boot up my old system to see if I had this installed or not, but this obviously is not the whole story, as with it, the phone is still not showing as a device.

IIRC the phone has to be unlocked in order to register.

That I know, and it is unlocked. And it was an old message from you almost a year ago about simple-mtpfs.
A little more digging and it seems that gnome has this automated. Xfce seems not to have it. Perhaps I need to reboot or somehow restart Xfce? I changed the automount options, and no change. USB sticks are not automounting; this is why I suspect a reboot or an Xfce restart is needed?
Oh yes. With a fresh build you need so e extra packages... i foget what they are called... mfp ?? Google android fedora filesystem.. On Dec 28, 2014 8:13 AM, "Robert Moskowitz" rgm@htt-consult.com wrote:

It turns out gvfs-mtp is the magic package. Don't know if simple-mtpfs is needed. I am going to unistall it and see if access still works.
